Helical gears are similar to spur gears except that their teeth are cut at an angle to the hole (axis) rather than straight and parallel to the hole like the teeth of a spur gear. The line of contact between two teeth is not parallel to the teeth but inclined.

They utilize input power in the maximum range of 2 to 250 kw. It exerts an input torque of 346 to 25000 Nm. The screw diameter which is equipped in the extruder gearbox is between the ranges of 20 to 200 mm. And additionally, they are present in three types which are as follows: Single stage.
